    Chiayi Lumber Processing Factory

    The facility was completed and opened in 1914. It was the largest state-owned timber industrial park during the Japanese colonial period. At the time, it was equipped with the most advanced equipment and technologies from the West. It was responsible for storing the timber cut down on Alishan and processing lumber into wooden materials. The lumber processing factory is no longer in operation, but it retains many historical buildings and remains and a vast green space that was once a cedar pond. It is a rare site for tranquility in the city center of Chiayi.

    Alishan Forest Railway Garage Park

    Alishan Forest Railway Garage Park was formerly known as the “North Gate Station (Train Maintenance Facility)” during the Japanese colonial period. The original site was located at North Gate Locomotive Garage, and mainly used for building and repairing various vehicles used for Alishan Forest Railway. The facility is almost a hundred years old, and many precious retired trains from Alishan are preserved here. In order to let the public visit this historical location, it was renamed the Alishan Forest Railway Garage Park in 2005.

    Cultural Gallery(Exhibition Venue of Chiayi City Cultural Affairs Bureau)has exhibition halls on the 3rd and 4th floor in Chiayi City Cultural Affairs Bureau. The one on the 3rd floor is about 330 square meters and the 4th has about 400 square meters. The ceiling height is about 2.5 meters. They both have light gray wool walls, black light steel frames on the ceiling and imitation wood plastic floor. The facilities are equipped with surround sound systems and track lighting fixtures. The exhibition areas are spacious and suitable for displaying Western paintings, watercolor, ink, calligraphy, sculpture, 3-dimensional art works, and others.

    Chiayi Municipal Museum has been officially opened since March 9, 2004, and it is the most representative multi-purpose museum in Chiayi City.     It is the first timber industry tourism factory converted from a timber factory in Chiayi City. It was formerly a cypress processing plant built in the 1950s.     Song of the Forest

    Song of the Forest was created by artist Wang Wen-Chih. The main design is inspired by ancient giant trees and rails of Alishan trains, showing a noble and magnificent look. Wood, rails and stones are provided by the Forestry Bureau. The golden sunlight shines on the copper braided dome. At night, the moonlight and starlight change the color. The beech and juniper floors inside the main structure have the aroma of phytoncides. The enveloping shape with openings reveals the view of the wilderness. Visitors stepping into the facility can experience the imagination of stepping into clouds on top of Alishan.

    Hosanna Museum

    It was established by the Hosanna Foundation. It has a selection of Koji Pottery showing the local Taiwanese culture characteristics and important artifacts related to the development and history of local Koji Pottery. The facility collects Koji Pottery from the early years in Taiwan, Buddha sculptures and ancient Chinese ceramics, and there are art works by Yeh Wang, Ke Shun, Hung Kun-Fu and Chen Zhuan-Yo.     Showa 18 J18 - Historic Archives Building of Chiayi City

    Classified as a municipal historical site, it is located in the 100-year-old Chiayi Park. The two Japanese-style buildings, established in the 18th year of Showa era (1943), used to be the dining hall and administration office attached to Chiayi Shrine during the Japanese colonial period. In recent years, the facility was originally used as a small historical artifacts museum to show the development history of Chiayi City. It has now become an integrated venue incorporating the shrine culture, culture and creativity activities, food and beverage, exhibitions and experience events.
